A volunteer-run chapter of the North Carolina Wildlife Federation that helps adults find their first hunt and first cast: safely, ethically and with respect for the land.
Our mission
Meaningful connections to the outdoors through education
Fall Line Outdoors (FLOC) is a chapter of the North Carolina Wildlife Federation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and is run entirely by unpaid volunteers. We help adults enter wildlife conservation through ethical hunting and fishing.
Many of our students did not grow up with a friend or family member to teach them. We fill that gap with classroom learning, hands-on field days and experienced mentors at their side, and we teach that the best hunters and anglers are also the best stewards of the land. All our programs are for adults, 18 and over.
What we do
From first class to first harvest
Hunter education
NC Wildlife Resources Commission hunter education classes taught by our certified instructors. The first step for every new hunter.
Mentored deer hunting
The New Hill Hunter Education and Mentoring Program: a 10-month weekend program with up to 12 full-day training events and a mentored hunt once you are ready.
Fishing
Freshwater and saltwater programs that take beginners from the bank to the boat to the coast.
Webinars
Free online sessions on deer hunting, processing and fishing, from first season basics to scouting and shot placement.
Conservation work
Wildlife habitat projects, food plots and Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) sampling that help keep North Carolina’s deer herd healthy.
Landowner partnerships
We work with landowners on deer management, land care and education, with background-checked and insured volunteers.

Our 10 hunter education classes, some with 12 to 15 participants each, bring new hunters into North Carolina every year.
Chapter leadership
The people you will work with
Our leadership team runs the chapter day to day. They are volunteers who teach, mentor and organize every FLOC program. When you join a class, volunteer with us or open your land to us, these are the people you deal with.
Gabor “Gab” Szentiványi
President
Gabor, “Gab” lives in Holly Springs and has been with Fall Line Outdoors since 2022, after first joining the chapter as a student. He is an active and registered North Carolina hunter education instructor and certified long-range shooter. Originally from Hungary, he has lived in Germany and France and spent 25 years leading IT for large companies. Gabor believes in conservation and ethical hunting, and that good hunting starts with honest, respectful relationships and trust with landowners.
Guy & Judy Gardner

Judy · Treasurer
Guy and Judy Gardner have dedicated more than 22 years to wildlife conservation, hunter education, and outdoor outreach to North Carolina. Their leadership with QDMA (National Deer Association), North Carolina Wildlife Federation, NC Hunters for the Hungry, and the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) has earned statewide and national recognition, including Governors’ Award for North Carolina Wildlife Conservationists of the Year (2009), National runner-up for Budweiser’s Conservation Award (2012) and induction into the NCWRC Hall of Fame (2024).
Through Fall Line Outdoors, they continue to advance conservation education, CWD awareness, and wildlife management across North Carolina through seminars, webinars, articles, and hunter education classes. “Never Stop Learning” is Guy’s tagline. Judy wholeheartedly believes that hunters, as conservationists, have shaped and will continue to shape the quality of life enjoyed in North Carolina.
Dan Votkevich
Secretary · IT Admin
Dan lives in Garner and has been with Fall Line Outdoors for three years, serving as Secretary and IT Admin. An experienced hunter, shooter and handloader, he came to hunting from the long-range precision shooting sports. Dan is drawn to the connection with nature that hunting offers and is committed to habitat preservation. He believes respectful, safe hunting is the best way to earn a landowner’s trust.
Bill Romeo
Membership Chair
Bill Romeo currently serves as Membership Chairman. He is the owner of a financial planning firm in Matthews and resides in Concord, NC. Bill joined FLOC in 2025 as a participant in its hunting mentorship program, successfully harvesting his first deer at the age of 57 in November that year. A lifelong outdoor enthusiast and father of two Eagle Scouts, he enjoys hunting, fishing, hiking, camping and conservation. Bill discovered through FLOC the mentorship and camaraderie he never experienced growing up, and he is passionate about helping others discover the same opportunities.

Deer Hunt Lead
Brian is an outdoor enthusiast with a passion for fishing, hunting, target shooting, and anything involving black Labradors!
Brian has a passion for helping pass down knowledge to others and has been involved in hunter education and mentoring for more than two decades.
Bill Foster
Deer Hunt Lead
Bill Foster is a longtime hunter and conservationist who loves being outdoors. As a Deer Hunt Lead, he enjoys working with new hunters and showing them the way he learned. Bill looks forward to muzzleloader and centerfire season every year, and he is an avid turkey hunter. He also helps with land management on the properties we hunt, and his skill at placing stands has put a lot of deer in front of our students.
Marcel Belmont
Fishing Program Lead
Marcel Belmont is a U.S. Army veteran with a deep appreciation for the outdoors and a strong commitment to service, mentorship, and outdoor education.
As the Fishing Program Lead for Fall Line Outdoors, Marcel helps introduce participants to fishing through hands-on instruction, responsible outdoor practices, and an emphasis on conservation and ethical stewardship of natural resources.
He believes that access to the outdoors creates opportunities for personal growth, community connection, and a lifelong appreciation of nature. Marcel is passionate about sharing his knowledge, helping others build confidence, and preserving outdoor traditions for future generations.
