New Hill Hunter Education & Mentoring Program
If you’ve ever stood in the woods at first light and felt something shift — that moment when you stop being a person who is trying to hunt and start being a person who belongs in the woods. For a lot of us, that’s the point. The harvest is a bonus. This program is built to help you reach it.
Fall Line Outdoors teaches adults the real skills, ethics, and confidence that make you capable in the field. No tests. No pressure. Just experienced mentors, practical knowledge, and hands‑on learning.
Why We Teach
We’re a volunteer conservation chapter of the NC Wildlife Federation. Our mentors hunt, fish, and steward the land — and believe the best way to grow conservationists is to teach adults the skills and mindset that come from time in the woods.

WEBINARS
Start with low‑pressure webinars that help you learn the language, gear, safety, and strategy. Recordings let you revisit everything. Most adults continue once they see how welcoming and ethical the culture is. Webinars are a great way to introduce a new hunter of any age to the sport, and to serve as a refresher for hunters who have been at it a while.
All webinars are free to attend, and open to hunters of any age and experience level. Pre-registration is required.

SKILL-BUILDING FIELD DAYS
Adults new to hunting and hunters returning to the sport may apply for hands‑on field days. Tight mentor ratios, real terrain, real skills. You’ll climb stands, read deer sign, make decisions, participate in a mock hunt, and if you’re ready, hunt one-on-one with an experienced hunter. You will join a community, not just a class — shared effort, shared challenges, and shared success create relationships that keep students engaged, returning, and growing their skills together. This is where learning becomes real, and where you will leave ready for your first hunting season.
The New Hill Hunter Education and Mentoring Program will begin accepting applications for the upcoming program this fall.

What to expect:
- Attend 5 or more full-day skill building events in or near Harnett County NC, on Saturdays once a month (Feb, Mar, Apr, May, Aug, Sept, Nov)
- NCWRC Hunter Education Certification course included
- At least 1 mentored deer hunt for students who have actively participated and are field ready
- Class size will be limited. Fall Line Outdoors reserves the right to admit one adult per family and prioritize students with little to no hunting experience.
- Registration fees cover only out of pocket costs. All mentors serve as unpaid volunteers.
DEER PROCESSING WORKSHOP
Learn every step from field care to final cuts. Processing your own deer improves flavor, safety, confidence, and saves real money. You leave able to feed yourself with clean, local, ethical food you harvested and processed yourself.
Fall Line Outdoors’ Deer Processing workshops will begin accepting applications later this year.

What to expect:
- Students will learn how to field dress, skin, quarter, debone and package venison donated for training purposes. Students will learn by doing.
- Class size will be limited. Fall Line Outdoors reserves the right to admit one adult per family and prioritize students with little to no processing experience.
- Registration fees cover only out of pocket costs. All mentors serve as unpaid volunteers.
